Name: Hexie Handbag
Resource: Sew News (pattern found here)
Quick Description: This is a great tote or diaper bag. It has 6 pockets on the outsides and if you wanted a few on the inside it would be very easy to do.
Fabric Suggested: 1 yard of suiting fabric, 1½ yards of lining fabric (such as silk doupioni), 2 yards of stiff fusible interfacing
Fabric Used: I used this tooth hound fabric I found at Value Village. I have over 4 meters of it. For the straps I used Taffeta and they are super sturdy. The lining I can't even tell you what kind of fabric it is but it's a soft silky and pain in the butt fabric to work with (frays super easily).
Interfacing I used fusible fleece to give it more of a soft feel than a structured feel
Skills Needed: Straight stitch, Working with piping (see video below)
Tips: I used a hard piece of correlated plastic found at home depot to make the bottom stiff and 4 purse feet so it wouldn't sit on the ground. Check out this class for helpful tips on how to make handbags.
Level of Difficulty: If you take the class listed above this will be super easy. Otherwise it's just easy..;)
